Kim Fields
is an accomplished singer/songwriter who has met many career goals
she had set for herself. She learned to play guitar so she could write
a song, so she could play it in front of thousands of people, so it
could be heard on the radio, so that it would be placed in a film.
But, she is in no way ready to stop. She is a musician that is never
satisfied and uses this to her advantage as motivation to strive for
and obtain it all. Kim's longing for expression is alive and breathing
hard in her passionate lyrics. The meaning of each song is, as one
listener put it, "driven home by her God-given gift for melody" .
Kim has played hundreds of shows that span from her home in Northern
Virginia up to New York City, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and
down the map to Richmond, Norfolk, Nashville, Louisiana and in between.
Extensive performing at intimate and large venues has seasoned her
well as a soloist and front person for her band October Skies.
Though
Kim did study music theory, classical guitar, piano, and voice during
college, her best education has come from natural instincts, performing,
and practicing with some of the best musicians around. Kim continues
to explore her musical passions by adding different players and instruments
into the production of her songs on tape and at shows. "Having
a different flavor to each song is the beauty of musical discovery.
If it means that I don't fit into one marketable category, then so
be it. I don't want to become a stale songwriter and I strive to reach
a larger more diverse market". With a splash of rock, a side step
of country and a whisper of grass folk, Kim's music sends the listener
into a whirlwind of musical expression that is indefinable.
